“Wake Up!” was the informal slogan/motto of a group of progressive Muslim activists at UCLA in the late 1980’s. At the time the U.S. campuses were active in the struggle against the South African apartheid regime and the Palestinian Intifada had started.
The name was used in some pamphlets but did not have any “official” standing. After I left UCLA and the Internet domain registration opened up, I registered wakeup.org.
